Festool Sanders

Whatever your project, we have the right sander for the right job.
Getting Started: The Right Sander for the Job

We take sanding seriously. Whatever project you're working on, we've got you covered — from removing heavy stock, to polishing, to drywall, to finishing custom profiles.

ROTEX sanders

3 sanders in 1
The multifunctional ROTEX epitomizes the strength of the Festool system. Move from aggressive material removal to fine sanding to polishing with the push of a button. Characteristically, Festool has gone to great lengths to design sanders, accessories, and abrasives that work seamlessly as a system, resulting in nearly dust-free operation, low vibration, longer service life, and, of course, an immaculate surface.

Random Orbit Sanders

Ideal for fine finishing
Our ETS Random Orbital Sanders are superior tools. They’re comfortable to grip and use, while Jetstream dust extraction keeps your surfaces clean and the pads around longer. From pre-sanding with a compact one-handed tool to achieving a super-fine finish in specialty applications, sanding becomes part of the job you can actually look forward to.

Orbital Sanders

Corners, edge, and large surfaces
With Festool orbital sanders, limitations in finishing have all but disappeared. Corners. Edges. Areas large and small. Even sanding right up against adjoining surfaces on a fully assembled piece. Nothing’s out of the question. Each features integrated dust extraction, StickFix® pads for quick-change abrasives, and vibration-stopping balanced design.

Specialty sanders

For all of your unique projects
If remodeling, painting, and drywall were always easy, you wouldn’t need tools like these. In real-world work environments, most jobs have their share of unexpected challenges. Specialty sanders from Festool bring our system’s efficiency and performance to the most difficult spaces and shapes. One look at the innovative PLANEX is enough to see how far our designs reach into new territory. The originality extends across a broad range of applications — from aggressive stripping to sanding corners to finishing linear profiles.

Cordless sanders

When flexibility matters
Festool cordless compact sanders impress with a capacity to remove extensive material and excellent endurance thanks to an 18 V battery pack and brushless EC-TEC motor. With a low weight and optimum center of gravity, they guarantee comfortable cordless work. Thanks to Plug-It mains adapters, they can be converted into mains-powered machines quickly and easily for continuous electrical operation. In short the RTSC 400, DTSC 400, and ETSC 125 are truly professional sanders – with or without a cord.

Brushless motors

Less downtime, less lifetime cost
The EC-TEC® Brushless Motor delivers more power to the pad, with a higher degree of efficiency and lower replacement costs, so there's no downtime for brush replacement.

Common Questions
  • "Which type of pad do I need?"

Festool offers different sanders for different uses.

    • Long-life Soft: Ideal for everyday sanding and heavy-duty applications
    • Hard (Blue)= Maintaining a crisp and flat surface especially on edges
    • Super Soft (Grey) = For medium/fine sanding and finishing sanding. The extra softness allows the abrasive to float for smoother results.
  • "Should I get the ETS 150/3 or ETS 150/5?"

The sander stroke will make it faster to sand and to get to a certain point faster. It will not be more aggressive on the sanding. When it comes to differences:

    • 150/3: Smaller orbit of 3mm stroke and it will have a super soft pad installed (softer for contours and super fine finish)-best for small to medium pieces.
    • 150/5: Larger orbit of 5mm stroke, (faster sanding) regular soft pad installed (slightly harder than the previous good overall sanding)-best for medium to large pieces.

They both will give you the best finish sanding.

  • "Do I need to break in my sander?"

No. Festool sanders come ready from the manufacturing facility and do not need time to break in the brushes.

  • "How do I prevent swirl marks?"

Turn suction down on your CT Dust Extractor. ETS sanders need minimal suction and nothing passed a quarter of the power. ROTEX sanders can handle more suction but mostly suggested around half the suction to three-quarters of full power. Also, always make sure to lift the sander from the material before you turn off the sander.

  • "What batteries do I need for cordless sanders?"

Festool's cordless sanders use a custom 18 V battery pack that is unique to the Festool sanders. It is not the same batteries used for other cordless tools such as the TSC 55, HKC 55, and SYSLITE. Why not? It is important that we design the battery around that tool — not the other way around. The existing 18 V batteries would make the batteries significantly unbalances and unergonomic. It is important to us that the quality and performance of these sanders is uncompromised.
